Vintage Home Decor and More

  • I’m always backing up and data-sync image files, it seems an endless task with digital and there is never enough storage.   But I’ve always thought during an evacuation of any sort, the most precious things to me would be my photos.

Now I have years of albums, prints, hard drives so I would need to rent a little u-haul just to make an emergency escape… which ofcourse is not logical.

I come across a few on line storage backups that look pretty cool.

There is also an excellent desktop sync that I use all the time just to sync my multiple hard drives with my Mac.

However,  I forgot to adjust my settings for the group shot after removing the pocket wizard and all I had was a complete black image….managed to muster something of it for memory sake….

  • Dobie_run_dsc04489

Yesterday, I set up my blog for smugmug children photography.

For fun, this is my daily slices of life that I enjoy during the early hours with Q on the golf course….

She ran like the wind today, not checking back for her usual treat but mostly just running hard… people were stopping to watch her… she really is so athletic and amazing sweetness.

Listened to an interesting pod cast interview with Rich Legg,  http://www.istockphoto.com/leggnet  … his history with istock went something like this….

    • joined Dec 2005,  500 uploads  required to become exclusive….he became exclusive but  by April 2007 he had made a whole $123.45 per year ….
    • so he/his wife made a goal for year end of 2007 that he would make enough on istock to pay house payment…
    • By 2008 he had made silver, gold and diamond…(less than 1 year 3 levels). which is 25,000 downloads..with 90% acceptance….
    • his advice is upload a minimum of 200 images per month averaging about 50 uploads accepted per week…(once exclusive) Picture_14
      • Base: 1 – 249 downloads
      • Bronze: 250 – 2,499 downloads
      • Silver: 2,500 – 9,999 downloads
      • Gold: 10,000 – 24,999 downloads
      • Diamond: 25,000 – 199,999 downloads
      • Black Diamond: 200,000+ downloads
    • working full time at it now and successful…
    • if you work part time at it you’ll get part time pay,  full time and you’ll achieve full time pay was his recommendation to new people.
    • He also started with one camera in 11/05,  got the Canon 30D in 11/06 and 5D in 3/07… said he saw immediate improvement with acceptance once he had the 5D…
    • He also talked about all his images  have post processing, he estimated it took him on a recent job about 12 hours to process 60 images.  He works smartly with action scripts where ever possible.
    • Was very motivating.

Okay here is my image of the day to share…….  We saw lots of giant spider webs but no lighting, lots of dew … some large oak leaves and autumn colors…. my pick of the day is the elegant brown magnolia…

Chubby Checker the Humming Bird loves to watch Quigley watch her Lizard…. Chubby faithfully came for cocktail hour between 5pm-6:30pm every day for a good 2 months…. Little Richard sometimes came along, but would not pose… he was quite beautiful with a green coat and red bow-tie.
