  • Labor Day: How it Came About; What it Means

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September (September 7 in 2009).

The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 51882 in New York City.[1] In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the US military and US Marshalsduring the 1894 Pullman StrikePresident Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority.

The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal of the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations," followed by a festival for the workers and their families. This became the pattern for Labor Day celebrations

    About Camp Pendleton
    Facilities

Camp Pendleton's 125,547 acres host a self-sustaining water supply, sewage treatment plants, telephone and electrical systems. With a daytime population of more than 7
0,000 , Camp Pendleton must maintain its self-sustaining capabilities.

To help maintain the high demand on Pendleton's utilities, there are seven sewage treatment plants, 150 miles of sewer mainlines, 24 wells, 375 miles of water mainlines, 23 reservoirs, 145 miles of gas lines, 335 miles of electrical lines, 215 electric substations and two landfills.

Along with having its own utility distribution systems, Camp Pendleton also maintains 7,300 family housing units and is constructing additional units in conjunction with maintaining 18,000 permanent party billeting spaces. In addition, there are more than 2,600 buildings and structures. The largest structure on Base is the 6,000-foot runway at the Air Station.

With constant training on Camp Pendleton, preserving the environment and compliance with waste reduction is an important consideration. In 1986, a successful recycling program was established. In 2008, the Base recycled 5.3 million pounds of cardboard and 2.2 million pounds of paper, constituting a savings of more than 4,352 cubic yards of landfill space.

Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. The holiday is often regarded as a day of rest and parades.

    Goodbye for the summer 2627

Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. So this marks the end of the season. Many people celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the date that many people close up the pool, and put away the boats.

What are some Myths behind Full Moons?

    Moon 1934
    – A werewolf in folklore and mythology is a person who shapeshifts into a wolf, with the appearance of the full moon

    – Stare at a full moon closely and you will see a boy and his dog burning brush.

    – Another rendition says to use a magnifying glass and look at the full moon, you will see a woman with a dog burning brush.

    – It is said that if a young girl holds a silk hankie at the face of
the full moon, desiring to know when she will be married, the number of
moons appearing, will indicate the number of years she shall wait.

    Good Luck:
    – If you marry during the Full Moon, you will have good luck and good fortune.
    – Children born on a full moon, will be strong.

    Bad Luck:
    – You will fail, if you try to commit robbery on the third day of a full moon.

Architecture the art and science of designing and constructing buildings and other physical structures for human shelter or use.

Architecture is also experienced[1] through the senses, which therefore gives rise to aural,[2] visual, olfactory,[3] and tactile[4] architecture. As people move through a space, architecture is experienced as a time sequence.
